Educational web3 onboarding game

Shitbirds

For crypto critics and my mom

Things I did

My responsibility was to design an onboarding process that guides players through the game's mechanics and educates them on the basics of crypto, even with little to no prior knowledge. To achieve this, I conducted extensive research and analysis of commonly used crypto language and carefully reframing complex terms into accessible and approachable language for players. I also played a supporting role in the creation of the pixel art world and the overall storyline.

The challenge

Would my mom understand?

My main challenge was to create an onboarding process that is simple and intuitive enough for novice users to successfully create their first crypto wallet. To achieve this, I had to carefully consider language, terminology, and visual design, and extensively testing the process for usability.

Accessibility should not be forgotten

The current UI design presents a potential accessibility challenge due to the choice of branding colors. Regrettably, the current contrast levels do not meet accessibility standards. Enhancing accessibility will be a priority in the next iteration of the design.
